So where are we now?

First of all, let me thank those of you who have already started following this blog, Please spread the word, there will be regular updates.

The Pirate Bay as we know it is dead, or as good as. Its creators have sold out, plain and simple. They can put any kind of spin on it they like. They claim that they could not afford to maintain the site. Yet they did not come to US, its users, and say, "We need some help to keep the site going."

They sold the site for exactly the amount they were sued for in their trial. Don't you find it odd that ANY company would make an offer for the site AT ALL? Let alone for that exact figure? If you ask me, the copyright people and the corporations are behind this move...they KNEW that a fine and some jail time would not bring the site down. I reckon that a deal has been made. "You sell to this company NOW, you pay the damages out of the sale money, and you don't go to jail." But this of course is pure speculation.

FACT: The Pirate Bay guys have sold out, abandoned their principles, and betrayed their userbase. I hear all this "We should be thankful for what they did for us." No, not now. Because what they have done to us NOW overrides that. Everything they ever told us is for SHIT.

FACT: Global Gaming Factory will most likely bring in some sort of charge to use the site, be this a subscription fee or a 'per download' charge. From Global Gaming Factory CEO Hans Pandeya:

“The Pirate Bay is a site that is among the top 100 most visited Internet sites in the world. However, in order to live on, The Pirate Bay requires a new business model, which satisfies the requirements and needs of all parties, content providers, broadband operators, end users, and the judiciary. Content creators and providers need to control their content and get paid for it. File sharers’ need faster downloads and better quality”

Translation: they will start charging users. Oh, and don't believe this new development that 'users will earn cash'...it's BULLSHIT. To try and quell the rebellion that they KNOW is coming. They are going to pay us to file-share AND pay all the copyright holders and studios? Yeah, sure.

This technology could easily be used to track and identify file-sharers. Worrying about whether or not the Pirate Bay kept any of our personal data is probably a moot point, if you were smart enough to do your file-sharing from behind a proxy (or seven ;P). I don't really believe TPB did keep that data, and if they did I don't think they would hand it over. But mark my words- new owners means new setup. There will be fees, and a registered account. They will have a tighter reign on you.

So what do we DO now?

For starters...if you have an account at The Pirate Bay, DELETE IT. Delete it, and stop using the site. They have shown us no loyalty by selling out, therefore we shall show them no loyalty now. I know this is a big step for may of you, but it must be done. The Pirate BAy is now a sinking ship....are you really going to stay on it? Stop using the site, don't even VISIT it now and again. Let's get Pirate Bay's hits DOWN. GGF made a big deal about how Pirate Bay is in the top 100 most popular internet sites, well WE made it that way. Let's prove that to them.

Ideally, the long term retaliatory action is of course regular DDoS attacks on GGF's main site (and The Pirate Bay once their takeover is complete). I would like to the first DDoS set up for within the next few days, if we act fast and show GGF exactly what we can do, we may be able to sour the deal. They may decide it's not worth the trouble and back out, and that's what I'm hoping will happen.

I will post more details when I work out a time and date etc. In the meantime, please keep spreading the word, post up this blog on all the chans etc, let's get as much support as we can and get ready for our first strike.
